Photo: My nano-verse




I'll try to mix it up with the photos, so you'll be getting pictures of my kids mixed in with other people's concert shots, etc. I'll also try to throw in some cool images from work. I always have a tough time with the "what do you do for a living" question. I work at the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Laboratory and one of the things I get to do is take a bunch of pictures of cool stuff with a scanning electron microscope. Today's picture is a close-up of a forest of carbon nanotubes which have been coated with a thin film of silver. Note the scale bar at the bottom and how freakin' small the tubes are as well as those small grains of silver (little bumps on the surface). Enjoy!
